i am going to be starting up a 50 gallon amazon biotope and i was wondering if anyone could tell what plants i should get and about how many of each- i was also wondering where i could get an inexpensiove hood and co2 system?

I would look into the plants from that region of the world that I liked and then designed the lighting and other needs around them..
Inexpensive lights are available at e-bay.. Jebo/Odyssea is the least expensive..
If you already have a double strip or lower light needs and a single strip hood then overdriving the florescent lights is an option.
DIY CO2 is possible on a 55.. and pressurized can be cheaper if you look into getting the regulator and needle valves and getting the tank locally at a welding shop or liquor store (they lease them for powered taps for beer kegs or something to that effect)
