Angelfish and tank height preference

I currently have a quarter sized angelfish in my 50 gallon long. Once he becomes an adult size, do you think he'd be happier with the height in my 50 gallon or my 36 gallon bowfront? Only asking about height preference since I'd adjust my stock accordingly. Tank dimensions are as follows:

50 Gallon - 48"L x 19.5"H x 12.5"W
36 Gallon bowfront - 36"L x 21"H x 15"W(at midpoint)
Each tank has 1"-1.5" of sand.

I think either would be just fine, it's only a 1.5" difference, and both are plenty tall for even a superveil angelfish.
