another algae question

why does it appear that most of the algae growth in my tank is directly under my filter (marineland emperor 400)?

I have an Emperor 400 and there is a dead spot right under the filter. The flow is directed out away from the filter causing an updraw that also moves away from the glass. almost like the vacuum that draws dirt to the back windows of SUVs.
