Fished out a dead tiger barb this morning, want entirely surprised because his tail was nipped off because he wouldn't stay out of the rainbow shark's territory.

Well I'm concerned that this could spread and his weakened state was just the first to succumb. During my second to last water change I forgot to unplug my heater and my plastic bamboo plant laid over and it melted and stuck to the heater a little bit. I figured leaving it there would need fine because the water would keep the plastic from melting and causing a chemical problem.

Opinions?

I'm surprised your heater didn't short, I've killed a couple like that.. Can you just take it out a scrap it off with a raxor blade or butter knife, once it cools it should just pop off..

Well I tried to grab it when it was cool and it didn't come off.

Also:
76F
pH: 7.4
ammonia: 0
nitrates ~20ish

80% water change Thursday afternoon.
