What does this stuff do? It says it removes ammonia but does it do it chemically or by providing the bacteria a good place to live. AC also makes the amrid media so my guess is the latter.

Another question. A lfs of mine sells active carbon in bulk, is it possible for the carbon to go bad?

Zeo-Carb removes ammonia chemically, also carbon goes bad after a month.

no, it is dry and in a big bin.

it shouldn't go bad as far as i know unless you use it in the filter. only after that it goes bad after 1 month. one more thing to keep in mind is that IMO, carbon is a waste of money unless you're removing medication.
