Is aluminum bad in a freshwater tank decoration?

Yup. Stay away from any metals in tanks

That's what I thought, thanks. I've cut a piece from a plastic clothes hanger.

Stainless steel is fine. Not sure what your goal is but they sell it in many forms. Zip ties are my go to for affixing things to stuff and vise versa. They sell every color so you can hide them nicely

I bought this really cool seal glass cairn from a website called Buddha Groove. It has a river rock base then smooth green sea glass stones that stack on top on each other with a core going through the center to keep them together.

I usually always go for the totally natural look, but I thought the cairn might be a nice change, especially with the color of the sea glass. They included an iron core, so I'm trying to find a replacement.

Yes, but they're on my mantel now and the wood is back in my tank, lol!

After I put them in, I decided that I didn't like it. They look better on my mantel
