Aquarium lighting questions

I have my aquarium placed where I can see it from my bed, and it would be very relaxing to watch the fishes swim while I drift of to sleep. However, I know that fishes need some dark period. If I covered the aquarium and had the light tuned off, would that work? If not, no problem, I would never do anything to hurt my fish, I was just wondering.

I'm not really sure what you mean. If the light on the aquarium is off, why cover it? And wouldn't that give fish their dark time? Or do you sleep with the room light on? You could just get an aquarium timer for the tank's light, set it to turn off at a time when you know you'll be asleep by (e.g. 10 pm) and then leave it off for the rest of the night.
Every living thing is significant.
