Are these fish compatible?

Angelfish, discus, and Bolivian rams. For a 30g tank that rules out discus unless you purchase a mated pair and then you should only keep the pair in the tank. I recommend a couple of angels or a pair of Bolivians. You would also do a trio of apistos, some cories, a couple BN plecos, etc along with some sort of tetras and hatchetfish.
 
A Sheepshead Acara would be great with them, and it's quite common too. As well as that, the fish bs6749 listed (bolivian rams, angelfish and discus) are all fine too.

Firemouths are way too aggressive, they'd probably tear any dwarf cichlids to pieces. I don't even think they're south american, I'm pretty sure they're Mexican and Mexican cichlids are way more aggressive than South American ones.
 
You are correct. Firemouths would be considered to be Central American fish and they are far too aggressive for a South American tank, at least with the fish I mentioned.
