If they were emaciated when I returned, I would fully agree with your sentiment.
And I wouldn't be doing it.
But in honesty, they don't show signs of thinning, much less starvation. Also, a certain amount of fasting is not unhealthy. Overfeeding is a far greater concern, imo.

In the end, people have to make their own choices.
On the one hand, you have a tank getting fed, but not getting cleaned.
On the other, you have fish that get fasted for a while.

Which one seems best for the fish is up to each fish owner.

Lastly, as far as I am concerned, I replied within the topic parameters. In my opinion, the best feeder is no feeder.
