So, I have both pregnant mollies and platies...I found one baby at the surface of my tank and scooped him out. I can't tell if it's a molly or a platy...will he be safe if i put him in my 5 gal with ghost shrimp? Thanks!

i would say that he would be safe..... fry are very fast, and i dont know if ghost shrimp will be able to catch it....

good luck

Ghost shrimp can catch them and I lost many guppy and sword fry to ghost shrimp. They will wait until they get close and can hang on well enough to actually swim with the fry and eat the tail at the same time. I have had as many as a dozen fry disappear overnight in a 2.5 gallon tank with 6 ghost shrimp in it.

If you put it in there, don't be surprised if it dissappears or you find it with missing fins.

phew, thanks for the heads up. I have them in a plastic breeding bin sort of contraption for now...good thing I didn't put them in with the shrimp! :)
