I've read that epsom salt will raise PH, but then I guess if they don't state where they are starting off, that really tells me nothing. If they are starting at 6.4, then yes it will raise it to 7.5 ish (according to jsoong)....but if it startes at 7.4, it won't be that noticeable.

The site I read about hatching brine shrimp (which of course I can't find now) said that Epsom salt would raise the PH closer to 8....and of course you know the internet never lies ;-) Obviously if epsom salts was working for this person, there's something else at work there as well.

I'll try getting some fresh Baking Soda to raise the PH to 8+.

(and to clarify...both my tap water and bottled water read 7.4 before and after adding epson salt. But it could have been 7.5, as with the AP test kits color cards, it's hard to tell the difference between 7.4 and 7.5)

Thanks for the tests/info jsoong
