Hey folks, I recently got a job at petco as the aquatics specialist (woo).

When I first got there I found that my store had one of the highest death rates of all the stores in this division (because no one in this store knew what they were doing) so for the first two weeks all I've been trying to do is get the water quality at a reasonable level (mostly for the freshwater systems).

My new problem is that the entire GF system has ich. So far, I've treated it 3 times but about 10 goldfish still have ich. Any advice or tips? I know i need to raise the temp next time I treat them but anything else?

Second question: Is hole in the head contagious? A blood parrot cichlid has it at my store and I was going to start treating him today but wanted to know If I can seperate him for the rest or If I have to treat them all. Any other good methods of treating it. I think I heard somewhere that if you change the problem it will heal itself but I'm not sure if that's true.

ANY help or advice is much appreciated. Or even just random facts. I'm all ears (or more correctly, I'm all eyes) (Ya I like writing).

Thanks

well many parts more keep a ton of salt in the water to help deal with ich. if one has it most likely its in the system and you have to keep treating it. though it might become a never ending battle if new ones come in sick.

HITH tends to be bad water quality and/or bad diet. if you can keep the system clean and make sure he gets some good food it shouldnt get any worse.

good luck with the job. i would go about trying to teach your co workers and should study up to learn as much as possible.
