I am NOT going to buy the carbon bags made specifically for the Penn Plax Cascade 1500 Canister Filter anymore...too expensive!

I am going to get some ESV Activated Granular Carbon...and put it in a filter bag. Now I find there are several sizes of pores of the Filter Media Bags:

Larger - 800 micron
Smaller - 300 micron

Filter bags cost the same...and idea which size to go with??

I am thinking the larger 800 micron...and I think it would see more water flow and less chance of getting gunked up.

What does everyone else recommend?

Thanks
WC

Hey WhiteCloud...just found your post. You do know that unless you absolutely need it, carbon is useless. If you do need it, there is no reason to use the manufacturer's carbon. As long as the DIY bag fits in the canister without any problems, go for it.
