I want to change the water that my bettas use. From 8.5ph to 6.8 ph, how would I go about this without hurting the fish?

I think there is ph balance stuff, to make your ph 6, 7, and 8 I guess... there are more stable ways to go about this however

driftwood and peat moss both lower ph,and keep it stabler than the storebought products, but i still think ph is fine where it is unless you have mega sensitive fish

I am going to use RO water in all of my aquariums and I was wondering what is the best way to get the betta fish adjusted to the new water ph. I was thinking of floating them in a bag and adding a little new water to their old water and make the gradual change that way. Maybe over a couple of days or so. The RO water tests out to 6.8 and like I said that is what I will be using from now on.
Thanks for the help.
