Betta....

Is it a good idea to keep a Betta with 6 neon tetras and a oto?....I know my neons wont nip on its tail......so what do you think? (and also what type of betta? male or female?)

This sounds like a good combo to me. Female bettas tend to be hardier because of less finnage. The males are much more attractive. If you keep your tank clean and well covered to prevent air temp fluctuations you will do just fine.

neons gang up on bettas, and for some odd reason bettas only know how to defend against other bettas. you can keep several females together and not have much of a problem after the initial fighting/fin nipping/tarritory desputes (assuming their personalities are compatable). i have a sorority tank (1 & 2) myself. and females can be just as beautiful as males

otos are great btw, i have two in with my girls.
