I'm looking to put 5 cherry barbs in with my betta in a 10g tank. Going to plant a bit as well. AqAdvisor says it's okay,... do you guys concur?

I'd be concerned, if only for two reasons: first, a betta can be chill as can be, then one day he puts on a goalie mask and decides his name is "Jason."

Also, cherry barb males turn a bright red when in breeding condition. I'm not sure a betta wouldn't interpret that as a challenger.

Of course, I could be being overcautious, too. :hide:

Our local store that always keeps betas in community tanks says ...

- it's about 3/4 of Bettas can deal with a community tank
- not so much with Barbs ... Because :
- Bettas do tend to start the fight but not finish it (they usually lose)
