This has appeared near the filter in my 5 gallon Betta tank and I was wondering if it was a bubble nest or something wrong with the filter. The filter has a really slow filter output. It seemed to appear after I put a capatta leaf in the tank.

Some Bettas produce bigger bubble nests than others, BUT to be on the safe side, check your water parameters. If everything is OK, I wouldn't worry about it. I have a Blue Gourami that creates excessive bubble nests.

Alright I'll test them when I get home, I'm really thinking it's a bubble nest but it seems odd that he would have built it so close to the filter.

It could be the bubbles rising up due to the filter flow.

I thought of that too but the filter isn't powerful enough to cause any bubbles when it hits the waterImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1410110778.038704.jpg
