My daughter wants to get rid of her betta. I have 55 gallon planted community tank. I do have angels and 2 balas and 1 redtail, amongst other fish. Am I right in thinking the male betta cannot go in this tank?

You could try but with a back-up plan. I've always found it hit and miss. Sometimes good at the start, then they play up.

When you say balas do you mean bala sharks? If so you need to return or re home them them. They need 125+ tanks and get 14". For the betta it depends on the specific betta. If hes a more friendly one then just dont get anything that looks kinda like a betta. Also what fish is do you mean by redtail. Redtail shark? Redtail catfish?

I would not mix bettas with angelfish. And agreed with the post above, bala sharks actually get a lot bigger than 14 inches- more like 41 inches (or larger)

Back to the betta! If you have floating or tallish plants it should not be an issue.
