Seems that you can be an even bigger hypochondriac by fish proxy than you can be a hypochondriac yourself. Jeff
 
I'm not exactly sure what it does, but from what I know it's best not to add anything to the water (especially if you don't know what it does). Just add a dechlorinator to the water and that's basically all you need, except maybe medications n such.
 
Supposedly this stimulates the slime coating of fish, which can be disrupted during times of stress, like being netted. I do not think it is necessary and since usually "stimulation" means irritation that causes the fish to produce more slime coat, I have mixed feelings about how good it is for the fish.

However, you are very hard pressed these days to find a dechlor that does not contain some kind of slime coat ingredient. I don't see any reason to use Bio-Coat if you are already using a dechlorinator. It would be personal preference.
