Black diamond blasting sand

I currently have a 29 gallon planted aquarium, with cory catfish. The substrate is mineralized topsoil capped with pool filter sand. I dont like how bright the pfs is and how dirty it starts to look over time. I was looking at black sands and realized itd cost a lot of money to get official black aquarium sand.

I have heard some people have had luck with Black diamond blasting sand and keeping cory catfish, but I also heard that it is very sharp and shouldnt be used. I was wanting more opinions on this before I make up my mind.

It is perfectly safe. I have had Cories living on blasting sand for a long time.
