Black tetra

Hello I have two black skirt tetras that are suppose to live 3 to 5 years, but mine are a little over 9 now. Is this normal?

Hi and welcome to the forum

Lots of tetras can live 4-5 years and some do make it to 10. It's not common but it does happen from time to time.

Fish ages can be subjective. Stats you find online are generally average ages. In a good tank with good foods and no to little stresses, all that will help any fish live a better, longer life. Even annual killifish, which only live a year, have been known to live 15 months +/-.
