My advise is to remove the crushed coral.

Out of the tap your PH is fine, as most tropicals will deal with any PH within reason. Adding the coral allows you to have PH swings. This is not good.

So remove your coral, and allow your PH to be what it is.

Actually, Lake Malawi Cichlids (which is what I have) like a higher pH than most tropicals. The crushed coral is a very stable and natural way to increase the pH in the tank. They like the pH in the 8's. Most tropicals tend to like it around 6.0 to 7.5. I have noticed that since increasing the pH with the crushed coral, the pH is always stable, and the fish act happier. They are digging alot more, and playing alot more.

when i bleached my QT i had a hard time getting the bleach out. So I soaked it 3 times in water overnight, and then i showered it in hot water 3 times. Finally rinsed it twice in dechlor water and at last no more bleachy smell.
