Blood red parrot tank mates

I currently have a blood red parrot and three albino barbs in my tank. They get along well. I would like to add a few more fish to my tank but I am not sure what type would fit well with the parrot.
My boyfriend wants a shark of some kind but I have read different ideas on them getting along with the blood red parrots.
I do plan on getting two more barbs because I know they are schooling fish and do better in groups of five or more. I just want some variety

Cool! First we need to know tank size, filtration etc. Most common sharks I know of are Bala sharks and red tailed sharks. Stay away from bala's as they get humongous! Red tailed sharks are cool, but I don't know if they'd work with the parrot. Hope some experts chime in!

Mever kept red-tailed Sharks with my parrots, but in the past I've kept a rainbow shark with them. What's your tank size?
