Trying to save myself some money I picked up a 40 gallon long aquarium on craigslist. I saw it was holding water and everything looked OK but when I got it home I noticed that the bottom trim is a bit cracked. One of the corners is actually missing some of the bottom support. Is this thing junk or would I be safe just shimming that corner?

The bottom trim doesn't affect the tank much, it's more for appearances than anything. As long as the weight is evenly distributed it should be fine.

Thanks for the feedback. The broken trim actually included a piece from the underside in one of the corners. So when I set the tank on a level surface if I pushed a bit on that corner it would cause the opposite corner to lift. I decided not to risk it so I just bought a new one. Will try to put the other one up on craigslist as a reptile tank or something. It technically holds water but seems to risky to me.
