I'm planning on getting some cherry shrimp in several weeks for my ten gallon tank. There is one store around here that sells them for four dollars each, but the store's PH is about 7, while my tank is about 8. If I were to buy them, would they successfully acclimate if I take it slow with the drip method?
An alternative to the four dollar shrimp might be one of the listings on ebay for ten shrimp for about twenty bucks, including shipping. Do shrimp ship well? Or do they die easily? What should I look for in these listings if I buy from them?
And I have fallen in love with the little orange-and-brown striped kuhli loaches. Could I opt for a small school of four of them in my ten gallon instead of the cherry shrimp? There are two male platies in the tank, and I plan to add one more in a couple of weeks. If I get either shrimp or kuhlis, I will add them in a month or two. Trying to take it slow.
And how would either of those do in PH 8, moderately hard water?
