C02 drop checker indicator solution

I read that the solution that comes with the checker is inaccurate and that a more reliable solution can be made using api ph test liquid?
Is this true? If so how can this be done
Thanks

You need to acquire some 4dKH solution. It is just distilled water brought up to a KH hardness of 4 degrees using baking soda. You can find it easily on eBay for cheap. You can make your own but the recipe will leave you with A LOT of it. You put about three drops of low range pH solution into your drop checker then fill it up the rest of the way with 4dKH solution.

It depends on what comes with it. Most drop checker solutions contain the same chemical that is the API pH test.
