can i have a paradise fish?

i have a 55 gallon aquarium. eventual stocking will be: 1 rainbow shark,10 balck skirt tetras,2 dwarf cichlids(pair),3(possibly 4,my mom wants me to get a male)swordtails,raphael catfish,and 0-2 zebra danios(originally had 9,7 died in as many hours,not getting more). my question is,as should be obvious by the title,can i get a paradise fish?


another question,can i get the male swordtail?

please answer guys,id like to get it(if possible)before i go on vacation(saturday). i read that they could be aggressive,but between my shark and a pair of cichlids,i doubt it will cause a problem

Adding fish before you leave town for vacation isn't really a good idea. I'd add the paradise fish when you come back. As far as compatibility the paradise fish should be fine IMO.

all right,thanks i still have to add my shark and the cichlids,i know the shark should be last,but should the paradise go in before or after the cichlids?

edit: almost frogot about the raphael,still gota get that

alright,i'll probably add it before in that case because it will have less bioload than the cichlids(getting 4 and rehoming 2 when/if a pair forms)

forgot to update this,went on monday and they didnt have the paradise fish so i got the 4 biggest cichlids in the tank. i was staring at them for a while,and i think they are jewel cichlids

ive been to my LFS like 4-7 times since i last posted on this thread,and still havent seen paradise fish. instead of a paradise fish,would a blue or gold gourami be okay?
