can i partial cycle a tank?

Hi.

I have two tanks with fish living full time in them. One of them used to be a quarantine tank. I really should have a quarantine tank, but I am afraid that I will succumb to the need of more fishtanks, so I am wondering, would I need to recycle the tank if I left it empty between fish, if I keep it's filter media in one of my other filters?

That should be fine.
As long as the BB colony is kept some where that it can survive.
