Can you rinse carbon media and reuse?

Fresh water tank.. Can I rinse the carbon media and reuse it. Rinsed in tap water? My tap water is very similar to my tank water in regards to ph, nitrates and ammonia

The only reason you should have carbon in your filter is to remove medications from the tank after treatments. You don't need those little carbon filled cartridges. Get a few bio rings, a sponge, and some polyfil (no flame retardants or antibacterials additives) and you'll have plenty of media to have a successful filter.
