I can't seem to get my tank to clear up. I do a major water change and it clears up sometimes, then a few days later its all mucky again, its never in direct sunlight and I've even tried leaving the light of for a couple days...this is getting frustrating, I've cleaned everything, filter etc (with tank water) and still no dice. Any suggestions?[/img]

I just tested again and it seems I have a nitrite spike, its about about 1.6-2.0mg/l, my ammonia is at zero. I just put 2 new fish and that white rock in yesterday, could they be causing the spike? I tested a week ago and I thought it was waaaaay lower than that, maybe I did it wrong 8O

So what should I do now? The fish all seem really happy... :(

I recommend leaving it alone for a couple weeks, it sounds like it is doing a cycle. Just do a normal 10-20% water change a week and lights 8-10 hours. Keep an eye on Nitrites and when they drop to zero your water should clear up a week or so later.
