I'm not sure if this should be on the sick fish forum; sorry mods!

I have a Shubunkin Goldfish with fungus, and I have bought a fungacide. I know that you need to remove the carbon in the filter, but what should I do with it? Do I leave the carbon in some tank water so as not to kill the bacteria, or can it be left in the air? How long should i leave it out for? I don't want to start another cycle by killing the bacteria!

Thanks in advance

just throw it away, the amount of bacteria thats beneficial and growing on the carbon i svery minimal, carbon also removes meds, so leave it out fo ras long as th efish is sick, and then for safety's sake, another 2 weeks after the fish is showing no signs, do 25% water changes every other day and keep an eye on your water pameters

Might as well just throw it away. You will need fresh to remove the medicine when the treatment is done. Your pads should have plety of bacteria. AC is only effective for 2-3 weeks anyway.
