Celebes rainbowfish

Are they really brackish or do they do fine in freshwater? I saw some at the pet store today, as I was replacing my hood, and I came home to do some research. I'm getting conflicting info as some sites say freshwater, others say they need brackish water.

I'm thinking of adding them to my tank since I can't find gold barbs and I'm not sold on cardinal tetras.....

AFAIK they're freshwater, but I've never had them. Considered them before I got my furcatas, and never recall reading anything about them being brackish.
