how often should i clean my canister filter....its a fluval 404 and is running in a 55g freashwater tank with an oscar jack dempsey and a pleco as well as a duel bioweel hang on back its been running for over a few months and have been having a few problems with water qulity wounderig if that could be the culpret

Monthly is a good goal, although some people go longer. It will vary on the tank setup as well.

Your Bioload is to large for a 55 that's what is upsetting your levels. With that large of a load you'll want a 75-90 gallon tank and a fx5 would do a much better job
