Clown loaches

There was an ad on Kijiji for 2 Clown Loaches
7 inches and 3.5 inches in length & they wanted your tank specs. When I replied with my tank sizes 93g or 100g I was told -
Sorry but they are already in a 90 gallon 5ft long tank and need around 120+ gallons, and will need upwards of 250+ gallons unfortunately
I knew they got big but is that truly the size tank they need?

Clown Loaches do get huge, but IMO a 7" Clown would be okay for quite a while in a 100 gal. Tank. I think they are slow growers. I can appreciate the sellers concern, but he might be just a little over cautious.
