convict fish causing problems

I brought a convict fish but didn't realise he would be attacking my fighting fish so had to seperate him from the others I brought more tropical fish zebra fins angel fish etc unfortunately my fighting fish died due to injuries so I'm curious should I realise my convict fish with the others or will he attack my newbies I'm afraid to even test it out as they seem delicate fish. Any suggestions ?

What is the tank size, stock list, and how long has the tank been running? It should work but let's address these questions first
