Cory catfish

What colors and kinds of Cory catfish are there? Please attach pictures. Thanks

Pandas, peppered, emerald, julii, skunk, you name it, there are a lot of types!
Pandas, well, look like pandas
Peppered are peppered, with black different sized spots and a dark gray
Emerald are green
Julii are like peppered, but the spos are smaller
Skunk is a light color with a line running down its back

There are at least 150 kinds of cories, but many are not commonly available and some are only wild caught.

The genus Corydoras

I had some Julii and they are awesome. Sadly, through circumstance, I lost them when I moved. I hope they are still alive and well.

When my new tank is cycled and then aged a bit, I plan to get six cories of the same species. I haven't decided which species yet.

Cory cats are a fantastic addition to any community tank. Just make sure to get at least 4, they much prefer to big in groups.

If you have room try to start with at least 6 and with Cories the more the merrier. I dream of a group of 20 C. sterbais

I have C. habrosus.

If you are new to Cories I would stick with an easy keeper. Green Cories C. aeneus also come in albino color are one of the hardiest.

Most fish sold as C. julii are actually C. trilineatus or a look alike.

Most Cories will color up and shine when they are happy. The Green Cories look plain at the stores, but in good lighting and good health they are iridescent.

Yes they are a type of Pygmy Cory. They are really more of an algae eater & stay mid level of the tank. They also need to be in groups which is easy as they are around an inch full grown. They are Corydoras pygmaeus

Otos are small & stay small but they like to be in groups. I have 3 in my 15gal tank. They don't take up much room & do a pretty good job on the algae

Hey guys, I have a Cory question

I had 4 small Cory's , 2 green and 2 spotted
One died, I'm hearing they like groups.
I saw some beautiful big guys in my local store
Would it be ok to get maby 4 big guys to be with the 3 little ones I already have ?

How big is your tank? Corys are peaceful and get along with any size cory though they may tend to group up more with their own species. Having groups of the same species is more important than some being larger or smaller.

Pygmy Cories are NOT Algae eaters. They eat microorganisms as well as small worms and brine shrimp. They may eat algae wafers, but that is Not the preferred diet. Meat based catfish wafers are better. There is misinformation that Cories should be fed algae wafers as main diet , not true. My club members breed Cories.
C pygmaeus do swim mid tank and check plants for critters, but they do not have the sucker mouth that true algae eating fish have.

Sorry, but I keep seeing this info repeated that they are herbivores.

Regardless of diet, Your pygmaeus are super cute ! I hope to get some later.
