Hi I am having a problem with thread algae. I have done everything possible to at least get it under control. Now my thinking is the light. It is an LED that is 10 years old. If I do the math 9H/d x 365dx10y equal 32850 hours. Yes I clean the lens when I do water changes cover too. I have a newer LED that is brighter than the old one even when it was new. I haven't had any problem with hair algae until 2 years ago. What do you think?

It is an imbalance some how. Sometimes the age of the tank could be in play. Did you used to dose any ferts? How often do water changes before 2 years ago and now?

Did you change the quantity of fish?

What type of plants do you have?

Also I am dealing with algae issues and recently read about dosing Seachem Flourish Excel which is a CO2 alternative.

Check out if you think it could help you.

also was watching a good discussion about algae

I will PM you the link.

Other lights tend to lose some intensity of spectrums and allows others to be more intense. So maybe possible with LEDs.
