Diatom Algae

Over the past 3 days, my tank has been overrun with brown diatom algae...I don't mind having it even though it is ugly, but my question is whether or not it will harm the danios that are in there now cycling the tank?

I was planning on adding ottos after the cycle completed (ammonia dropped to 0 two weeks ago, still awaiting nitrites to fall back from the stratosphere), but should I add them now even though it's not cycled?
