I had a 2.5" Anthias and another 2.5" Maroon Clown recently vanish into thin tank water. Both were hearty and in excellent health.

I first suspected those lousy crabs - I have two Sally Lightfoot crabs that are about 2" across. They really cleaned out my 2" Maxima clam so I thought they might be on the hunt for more meat. Then I thought, those two fish were a bit large for those pesky crabs, but what else? Any suggestions? No carcass or bodies were found. They just disappeared. :(

Well if the fish died then the crabs would definitely find and eat it! So it's hard to say if they caught the fish, killed it, and ate it vs just found a dead fish and opportunistically devoured it.

try looking in your filter.. that has happened to me a couple of times.. also look in any decorations in your tank, they usually have holes in the bottom, might be far fetched but worth a try...
