Hey y'all, many of you saw that I was receiving an order of discus, plants, and pistos and I, well my dad got them in earlier today at 10:28 in the morning while I was at school and acclimated them for a while and than released the fish and let the plants float. As of now the fish are looking great, the female apistogramma trifasciata is still pretty stressed along with the red snakeskin discus but everything else is looking good. Most of the plants are looking good but a few didn't like shipping and are a little brown. This thread was started to show my little discus journey and how it progresses.

Here are some pics of the pistos. Male is the only one I can get a pic of now, the female (might be a second male, not sure) is still super stressed and I'm not if he/she will make it.

Little worried about the female (possibly male) pisto. She still seems super stressed and is breathing very slowly and shallow. The male on the other hand dealt with shipping amazingly and is super active and the discus are eating really well which is good

Might order either a fourth discus or another pair of pistos soon, since I'm about to make $90

Separate or same tank? A bit worried breeding apistos could stress the discus though I'm sure you have already thought of this.

Sorry about the stressed apisto, hope things turn up.

I did think about this, and I've researched it and it's a 50/50% chance they will or will not gonna be aggressive toward the discus. The discus like different areas of the tank as the pistos so I'm gonna try my luck but if they start breeding I will most likely move them for the sake of the fry and discus.

They're way off on temp requirements, they should not be in the same tank. Any basic search would.have led you to that realization.

And that would be my fault as I thought pistos were south American and found around the same areas discus are. But I guess not.

Nah man.. they'd be happy around 76-77. If that tanks at discus temps it's no wonder they're stressed. Research before buying fish.

Just did a quick little search and found that they they don't mind 80 degrees F I can lower the water temp to 82 or move them once I get an open tank.

Only one is stressed, the other loves it. And I do research, a lot

I understand your concern and where it's coming from and I appreciate that, but I have done my homework on all this discus, pisto compatibility and I found very, very few negative comments and a lot og good comments
