DIY lighting (LED's)

Has anyone made there own lighting out of LED's? I've got everything to do it, just need input on how many for a 180g 24"x24"x60" aquarium.
 
First what color spectrum will you use?

There are different spectrum of white. I think you would be using warm white or cool white. Both can be used for plants and each give off a different look to the tank. You can blend both and it might make the tank look good. You might also want to add a hint of other colors as well and put them on a dimmer, such as possibly (not definitely since I can't remember I what read about this stuff) ultraviolet, green, or blue.
