When the water level in my tank is correct the filter only causes a ripple across the surface. It's a 60 litre tank and all stats are spot on when tested. I hav 6 rummynose tetras, 1 dwarf gourami and 2 guppies (did hav 3 but one died seemingly outta nowhere this morn). Was wondering if I need something to create bubbles to help oxygen levels or is it necessary?

Hello Ray...

If you have a filter system with a gallon per hour (gph) rating of 4 times the volume of your tank in gallons, then you have enough surface movement to mix oxygen into the tank water and allow carbon dioxide to escape. Those small bubbles do little to mix oxygen into the tank water. The bubbles are mostly for show. If you like the bubble effect then use a small one, but the filtration system is doing the work.
