i was wondering, do u need a heater for keeping Pleco's ??

and how big do they grow??

they are from south america.. their tropical fish.. so yes you need a heater..
and it depends on the pleco as to how big they get.. anywere from a few inches to over a foot long...

I have seen where folks keep plecos in a goldfish (coldwater) environment. That doesn't necessarily mean that it is a good idea. The cold water will stunt it's health and growth.

Foot long or bigger pleco's are not uncommon. There are dwarf varieties that get just a few inches (Albino bristlenoses for example).
