does it hurt the HOB filter to run if power goes off then back on?

If the power goes off for 20 minutes or so does it hurt the HOB to run and try to fill back up? Will it fill back up or just run partially empty?

Just curious as I was doing a water change and heard the pump running after I filled the tank back up and before I filled the HOB box and the question hit me. thought I'd ask the experts.

It won't hurt anything so long as there is some water in the HOB, which there should be. Some are self priming and will start up again on their own, and some require refilling before they will start working.
