Drift Wood or sticks

Can I use wood found by rivers and creeks and just regular old sticks ? Thanks

I'm just confused on how I'm going to be able to ID a piece of drift wood?

As far as grape vine there are millions of them on my parents property not the best looking thing though.

there is a golf coarse boarding my parents property, do you think fertilizers would be present in the stream? The creek is filled with fish and turtles .

Possibly, or pesticides used to keep grass/weeds in check. If you're not sure always best to play it safe.

I mean the wild life in the creek is booming and just about every body of water has these issues these days
