anyone know the proper steps of preparing driftwood for a tank? I was thinking of screwing a piece of wood down to a piece of slate, or gluing it with aquarium safe sealant. i really want a big piece, so idk how i can clean it. Thanks!

This is my piece in my 150

I just soaked it in the bathtub with hot water for about a month just to be safe and scrub it really good. I had to cut the thicker upright piece about 3 feet so it would fit.

most people use slate to hold it down. I just tied a string around a rock and burried it and now I have a 30lb rock resting on the right side, plus it's waterlogged now and wont move.

(my tank doesn't still look like this...brings back memories)
