Well I looked out there today and this dw hasn't leeched any tannins. Water is as clear as when I first put it in there. I still have to soak it a few days tho to get it waterlogged.

I would soak it atLEAST a week. ideal time if you really think its gonna be a problem and leech a lot of tannins would be a month but i saw the pics of yours and i think you dont have many tannins to worry about honestly.

ok thanks. it hasn't leeched any so far, still have to get it soaked so it sinks tho.

Let's put it this way. If you are conducting proper aquarium maintenance (pwc at least once a week) and this thing isnt putting out any appreciable tannic acid in a week of soaking, then it should be fine in your tank, and tannins should not accumulate to any sort of visually unbearable level.
