Ive been preparing some driftwood I bought from a local fish store for a few days by leaving all of it in a tub of hot not boiling water. The water is very clear and the driftwood sinks, is this driftwood safe enough to put in my tank now or should I follow any extra precautions?

I was under the impression you should boil your driftwood. I boiled mine and then let it soak for a few days and it was good to go. If you're not going to boil or sterilize in any other way, I'd say if it's not leaching in the tub you have it in now then it's ready to go.
