Do they mix?

I'm thinking Kribs, Rams and other small cichlids here. Will they coexist with bamboo shrimp and amanos? Or will they have a pricey lunch?

Has anyone got any anecdotal evidence of this?

Thanks in advance

Cam

Ohh boy do I ever. Where to start..ok so ram tank, they don't bother the amanos but the rcs were def on the menu, i had a moss tree the rcs colonized, I'd see the rams just b line into the moss and come out chewing.. the other tank with my apisto cacs, i added 5 amano and I haven't seen them since.. cichlids are very smart and love a fast lunch.. if you have a good section of moss or viney/leafy plants than it may work

Most dwarves can't handle amanos, but cacatuoides have large mouths and will eat them if they can, I've lost smaller fish to them. I have amanos in my apisto tanks(no cacs) and they get ignored.
Bamboo shrimp should be way too big for a dwarf cichlid to even think about trying to eat.

Thanks. Shame about the RCS. Maybe just as well though. I am the only person in the world that can't get them to breed.

.... My secret shame.

Just saw you had kribs listed, they would probably be able to eat the amanos and definitely any dwarf shrimp, but they should get slong ok with something as large as the bamboo shrimp or other filter feeder.

Good news about amano and bamboo safety though. I'll avoid cacs then. Kribs shrimp safe?

I don't mind,.my rams are happy and healthy and I can always get more rcs. Good healthy rams are another story.

Kribs will probably eradicate all shrimp under 1.5".. they go hard..

Ah. I do love my shrimp. Such value to the community. I need to proper research dwarf cichlids I think.

Well what's the intended setup? Care to share all the details? Gillie knows pretty much everything about dwarfs and I know about 3 types haha.

Hmm, I don't see much of a problem with your stock except for maybe the shark, they can get pretty territorial and utilize the same cover structure as most dwarves.
What size is the tank?

200 litres. There are currently 3 cave like areas. And room for a couple more.

Praecox rainbows x 7
Neon tetras x 12
Ruby shark x 1
Pearl gourami x 1
Platy x 1 but thinking of rehoming
Swartz and false Julii Corys x 11
Amanos x 6
Bamboo shrimp x 1

Close to max. Parameters stay great and nitrate only hit 10 before WC.

Just checking, looks like you may have room for a pair of south american dwarves, anything from west africa may be too much.

Cool. I spied a pair of Czech bred German Rams for £12 at my LFS. Might get them this weekend.
