I was feeding 5x a week, but now that I have combined my 2 smaller tanks into one, and added 7 young fish, I am feeding 2x a day. Small amounts, gone within a minute or down to the critters hiding in the plants. I drop in a fat algae wafer at least 3 nights a week for my pleco, shrimp, snails, khuli’s.

Should I feed more often? Cut it back if the younger fish don’t really need more feeding frequency.

I feed my fish twice a day, feed the babies 3 times a day.

Feed them flakes in the morning and baby brown shrimp or adult frozen at night.

Again you the best person to decide what is to much or not.
Are you fish fat? give less, are they skinny? give more.

It is always better to give 2 times a day smaller amounts than once a day a big meal.

Got any pictures?

Thanks. I worry about over feeding and snail population exploding and high nitrates. And I worry about under feeding and starving the growing fish. And I worry about the plants, enough ferts? Too much light or not enough.

And then I have a cocktail and watch the tank to relax and stop worrying. It’s a vicious cycle. Lol

I feed all my fish at night so I'm kinda at a loss here?

digestive system of a little one is much faster than the adults.
Therefor do people suggest on the internet to feed as often as 5/7 times a day.

Over the food kind, you can raise fry on flakes in bulk from the pet store.
And with those they wil grow as big as the adults fish in the store.
But if you feed them live/frozen foods they can become bigger.

more and better nutrients = faster & better growth.

Now on the other hand, feeding to much, wil end in fat sick fish.
Think about fatty liver disease and whatnot...

On one side you got people who feed their fish once a day and they survive.
On the other side you got people feeding them fish EVERY 3 hour, they survive.
So long story short, it is all up to you.
(al do the people feeding 5/7 times a day also have a lot more maintenance)

I gave my fishes once a day in the very beginning.
They did fine back then but they look much better right now.

I always feed fry until you see them bellys a little bit sticking out.
Wait until it is gone and repeat.
